How to Archive and Restore Features

Archiving lets you move features out of your active list without permanently deleting them. It is a clean way to keep your feature list focused on current work while preserving the full history and details of anything you want to set aside.

What Archiving Does

When you archive a feature, it is removed from your main feature list and placed in a separate archived view. The feature and all of its details — including its AI-generated specifications, work breakdown, estimates, and any notes — are fully preserved. Archiving is non-destructive: nothing is lost, and you can restore a feature at any time.

This is different from deleting a feature, which permanently removes it.

When to Use Archiving

Archiving is useful in a number of situations:

• Completed work you no longer need in the active list — features that have shipped and are no longer relevant to ongoing planning.
• Features on hold — ideas or requests that are parked indefinitely but may be revisited later.
• Duplicate or superseded features — when a feature has been merged into a broader scope or replaced by a newer one.
• Cleaning up a long backlog — removing low-priority or stale items to keep the feature list manageable without losing the history.

How to Archive a Single Feature

1. Open your project and locate the feature you want to archive in the feature list.
2. Hover over or select the feature to reveal its action menu.
3. Choose the Archive option from the menu.

The feature will disappear from the active list immediately and move to the archived view.

How to Archive Multiple Features at Once

You can archive several features in a single action using the floating action bar.

1. In the feature list, select multiple features by clicking the checkbox or selection indicator on each one.
2. Once two or more features are selected, a floating action bar appears at the bottom of the screen.
3. In the floating action bar, choose Archive.
4. Confirm if prompted.

All selected features will be archived together.

Note: The floating action bar also supports other bulk actions such as changing status or deleting features. Be careful to choose Archive rather than Delete if you want to preserve the features.

Viewing Archived Features

Archived features are hidden from the default feature list view. To see them:

1. Open your project's feature list.
2. Look for the view toggle or filter controls near the top of the list.
3. Switch to the Archived view.

The archived view shows all features that have been archived for this project, along with their details and original status. You can browse, and inspect archived features just as you would active ones.

How to Restore a Feature

Restoring a feature (also called unarchiving) moves it back to your active feature list.

1. Switch to the Archived view as described above.
2. Locate the feature you want to restore.
3. Open the feature's action menu and choose Restore (or Unarchive).

The feature will reappear in your active feature list with its previous status and all its details intact.

Note: You can also restore multiple features at once. Select the features you want to restore in the archived view, then use the floating action bar and choose Restore.

Tips for Keeping Your Feature List Clean

• Archive features at the end of a sprint or release cycle as part of a regular cleanup habit. This keeps the active list focused on what your team is currently working toward.
• Use archiving instead of deleting when there is any chance you might want to reference a feature later — for example, when revisiting scope decisions or onboarding new team members.
• If you are unsure whether a feature is truly done or just paused, archiving is the safer choice over deletion.
